DEPEW, Okla. (KTUL) — Making the drive down Oaklake Trail, it looks like any other RV park. There’s a pool and volleyball and wildlife.
“We have deer, we have raccoon,” says part-owner Diana McCalment. “We have all of the best of living in a country setting.”
“It’s just a simple, plain, free lifestyle,” says her husband Ray. “And it’s just, that’s why we’re here.”
One thing is missing though, clothes.
“I can get up in the morning and get a cup of coffee and walk out on my deck without any clothes on, and drink my coffee and watch the birds,” says 81-year-old Ray.
Oaklake Trails is clothing-optional. But for Diana and Ray, their birthday suits beat the pants off of well pants.
“In the evening, we’ll typically get in the hot tub with a glass of wine,” Ray says. “It’s pretty nice.“
“So many people, when they come the first time,” explains Diana. “Really can’t believe that there can be a place where the human body can be honored without being sexualized.”
They’ve lived there permanently for 21 years, and they couldn’t dream of rejoining the textile world.
”Ray and I still have a house in Tulsa,” she says. “And we talk frequently about how we can’t ever imagine going back and being in Tulsa again.”
And with several hundred nudists about to descend on Oaklake, it’ll be a whole lot of fleshy fun.
“Sometimes you’ll have a woman who will come here and she’ll wear a top for a little while,” Diana says with a smile. “And then it’s gone.”
This is the second time Oaklake Trails has hosted the American Association of Nude Recreation National Nudist Convention. There are events scheduled every night from August 7th - 14th.
